Life With The Libbys | Grey Turns Two
Our sweet little Grey Girl turns TWO and my heart is full of emotion as we celebrate this milestone.
I often get asked what has been my favorite age with her, and I'm not sure that I have one. There are new exciting changes and growth every week and month well as new challenges in every season. While I yearn for those early days newborn snuggles, my heart was not prepared for the toddler cuddles and the "come here" or "come closer" when she wants to snuggle together. I'm continually in awe at the rate children learn new things, it seems every day I hear something new come out of her mouth or watch her master a new skill I didn't even know she was learning. It is truly remarkable.
This past year, she went from a baby to a full blown toddler. When people ask me "How's Grey?!" I always respond "Wild" but honestly in the best way and we wouldn't want to change a thing. She is smart, independent, nurturing, silly, loving, brave, and so so curious.
She started daycare for the first time a few months ago and I love hearing her come home and talk about her friends at school and listen to her sing nursery rhymes I completely forgot about. It's been one of the biggest and best changes we have experienced. A true privilege to find a care provider we love and that she loves equally.
Our girl loves to have "dance parties" after dinner, will happily accept an ice cream cone whenever offered, and loves to be outside running after our dog Shire, riding her tractor, or throwing acorns in the lake at her Yia's.
I've loved watching her individual relationships and bond grow with her grandparents and our friends (aka "aunties"). We love to explore local new places and took a trip to her first National Park. She absolutely loves the beach and playing in the water. We even took ISR swim lessons and girlfriend can float and swim all on her own!!
Mostly, I love the mundane routine of life with Grey. The cuddles on the couch, dancing in the kitchen, playing at home, walks as a family. These moments are absolutely everything.
Experiencing life again through a child's eyes is one of the most magical things to see how they take in the world around us and find so much joy in the ordinary and extrodinary.
She is a true gift to this world and I'm so grateful to be her Mom and share this life with her.
Happy Birthday G!
Here's a few of our favorite images from our recent family shoot with Darling Photography. And a beautiful reminder to just let you kids play during a photo session and if plans change (like the gate closing 1 hour early) make the most of it and end your session with ice cream!
