Incorporating Audio In Your Wedding Film

We believe that your wedding film should be a representation of who you are as a couple.

If you're thoughtful and romantic or silly and fun your film will reflect that.

But your wedding film is more than just one day. It's the days and years that led up to that day. It's the relationships with your family and wedding party, the years of history that have helped shape you into who you are individually and who you are as a couple.

Our favorite way to help tell your story is to include audio in our wedding films. The voices of you and your favorite people are what help make your film unique and a true reflection of your love story.

Today on the blog we want to talk about the different ways we include audio in our wedding films to help tell your story. We hope that by doing so, it will help you be thoughtful about the decisions in your wedding planning.

VOWS

The most important audio we collect on your wedding day is your vows.

We are such a sucker for writing your own vows because we believe it truly represents your promises and wishes for your future together. However, I think a common misconception is that vows have to be some sort of surprise. When we wrote our vows for our wedding day, we wrote them together. For example..

Cole said,

"Amanda, you are my dearest friend and my deepest love. Today, I choose you to be none other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, and trusting who you will become. I vow to love, support, and respect you for the rest of our days.

I promise to grow alongside you as we build our future together. To fill our lives and home with laughter and sunshine. I promise to continue doing my Sunday chores, to be your Instagram husband, and to always make you laugh even when you don’t think I’m funny.

Amanda Elizabeth Fogarty, just by being you - you have made me a better me. You have shown me a different way to live life, to live in the now because tomorrow is never promised. You are my today and all of my tomorrows. It is with these vows, knowing who I am, and who I want to be that I take you to be my wife."

Amanda said,

"Cole, you are my dearest friend and my deepest love. Today, I choose you to be none other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, and trusting who you will become. I vow to love, support, and respect you for the rest of our days.

I promise to grow alongside you as we build our future together. To fill our lives and home with laughter and sunshine. I promise to never stop dancing in the kitchen, to adventure near and far, and to love you unconditionally even when I don’t like you.

Cole Bronson Libby, just by being you - you have made me a better me. Your love has lifted me through grief and celebrated with me through joy. You are my today and all of my tomorrows.

It is with these vows, knowing who I am, and who I want to be that I take you to be my husband."

LETTERS

Maybe writing your own vows isn't for you, or you prefer the traditional vows. Something to consider to add a personal touch is a letter to your husband/wife to-be. Even if you do write your own vows, writing a letter for your fiancé to read the morning of the wedding day is such a special sentiment. We love capturing this on photo & video! We have had couples read them separately during the getting ready process or read them to each other during their first look. How you choose to exchange these words is up to you!

Another thing - letters don't have to be limited to just the bride & groom. I (Amanda) wrote a letter to my Dad on my wedding day because he passed away a few years ago and couldn't be there with us. Not only was this a great way for me to emotionally prepare for the day, it allowed our videographers to incorporate him and our relationship into our wedding film.

You can do this too! Maybe both parents are still with you but they're not planning on giving a speech or toast the night of the wedding. You could have them write a letter for us to record privately to incorporate into your film.

SPEECHES

This is one of our favorite parts of the night because we get to know you a little bit better. We also love reactions like Ashley & Mike's above! The heartfelt stories, the words of wisdom, and the well wishes from your Maid of Honor, Best Man, and parents are a perfect addition to any wedding film!

CEREMONY

We love to include pieces of your ceremony beyond your vows in your wedding film. Maybe it's the grounding or intentions set by the officiant at the start of the ceremony or the words from the readings you chose. These are all incredibly special to you and allow us more audio options to weave into your film.

Pro Tip:

There are so many benefits of hiring a professional wedding officiant! Not only will they make sure your ceremony is well organized and articulate, a lot of them will help you customize your readings, traditions, vows, etc. We love working with A Sweet Start & Swoon Union.

REHEARSAL DINNER / WELCOME PARTY

Guys, we are such a sucker for a wedding weekend! We love how more couples are expanding the celebrations beyond just one day. A rehearsal dinner and welcome party is a perfect way to include more content & audio into your total film and photo portfolio. We often find that more couples are opting to have a few speeches the night before to limit the amount of speeches during the wedding reception. Hiring us to capture these special words will allow us to incorporate more personal details into your film.

We hope this provided some inspiration and education for you on the ways we incorporate audio into your wedding film. As always, don't ever hesitate to reach out with ideas or questions. We love working with couples in the planning process to help better document your day.
